Please Make Sure your Bags & Kids are Safely stowed in the Overhead Compartment.

There’s nothing we love more than hearing a great funny story about life in the skies. Well this one caught our eye for all the wrong reasons. Seems that just as one of the flight attendants was wrapping up the safety briefing prior to takeoff, another one of the crew heard a baby crying, but couldn’t figure out where the sound was coming from.

And if there’s one thing you know from being on a commercial aircraft it’s that babies are never too hard to find.

But this time, things were different. The cries were kind of muffled, and the sound seemed to be coming from nowhere in particular. And one of the flight attendants realized it was coming from one of the overhead luggage bins. Turns out one of the passengers had managed to stow her baby, snug in its bassinet, into the overhead bin without anyone seeing. In the mom’s defense, it’s apparently not the first time this has happened.

First-time fliers often view the overhead space as a perfectly cozy sleeping cove for a newborn or infant baby along with their handbags, of course. Needless to say the baby was handed to the mother where it stayed for the remainder of the flight.
